The audio streams on the Freeview HD channels are currently being broadcast all in HE-AAC (High-Efficiency Advanced Audio) format. If you get no sound while watching Freeview HD channels on your PC using a DVB-T2 tuner, you need to set up your device for HE-AAC, here we introduce two easy ways.

As an example, we choose the TBS6280 PCI-E DVB-T2 Dual Tuner Card, which is a Freeview HD Tuner ideal for picking up DVB-T2 signal in the UK.

After you’ve installed your TBS 6280 DVB-T2 Dual Tuner Card in your PC correctly and also an aerial is connected, you are ready for the set up.

TBSViewer, which comes with all TBS products in the installation CD, is a very simple to use application.

FFDShow:

FFDShow is a media decoder and encoder mainly used for the fast and high-quality decoding of video in the MPEG-4 ASP (e.g. encoded with DivX, Xvid, or FFmpeg MPEG-4) and AVC (H.264) formats, but it supports numerous other video and audio formats as well. It is free software released under the GPL license, runs on Windows, and is implemented as a DirectShow and VFW decoding filter.

DVBDream is a very popular application, which has very good support to TBS products.

VLC (VideoLAN):

VideoLAN is a project that develops software for playing video and other media formats across a local area network (LAN). It originally developed two programs for media streaming, VideoLAN Client (VLC) and VideoLAN Server (VLS), but most of the features of VLS have been incorporated into VLC, with the result renamed VLC media player.

Step2

Install the VLC, and then we try again with the DVBDream:
